A NEW KIMBALL IS NEAR
New Kimball Art Center at the YARD, 1251 Kearns Blvd. opening to the public March 23, 2021.
The Kimball Art Center has served as Park City’s creative hub since 1976 when Bill Kimball’s vision came to life, and the doors of the Kimball Art Center opened at its first location, the once-dilapidated, newly-renovated Eley Garage on Park Avenue.
After spending five and a half years testing the eventual arts and culture district location in a temporary home, the organization opens once more in a temporary location at the YARD, 1251 Kearns Blvd. While this location is temporary, almost 9,000 square foot former warehouse was reimagined and rebuilt to include the museum-quality flooring, lighting, and walls required to host the caliber and quality of art the Kimball Art Center will welcome in this temporary home.
The YARD includes four gallery spaces and four education spaces and an event cafe space.
The YARD is yet a stepping stone to the Kimball Art Center’s final destination, but an important one. The YARD is where the Kimball will unveil their vision to the community-at-large. While the Kimball continues to exist to inspire and connect through art, in this new chapter, the Kimball presents a platform that allows people to explore and experience creative expressions on a national scale before turning within and discovering their own creativity through the organization’s educational programs and supporting artists from across the nation at the annual Kimball Arts Festival with Park City Municipal.
The YARD is where the Kimball will define their place as an art museum. The YARD is where the Kimball will invite exhibitions that connect the Park City community with national dialogues in both challenging and meaningful ways. And, the YARD is where the Kimball will evolve to its future self as its forever home is envisioned, funded, and developed. Through this transformation, the future Kimball Art Center will be born, and Park City’s place as an art and culture-driven community will be solidified.
The Kimball Art Center at the YARD opens to the public March 23, 2021 with private preview events and tours for members and supporters.
